First Editor-in-Chief and Honorary Editor of Journal of Cosmetic Medicine

Dear respected members and readers of Journal of Cosmetic Medicine (JCM),

Hello!

In 2016, under the recognition that our society, the Korean Society of Korean Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine (KSKCS & KCCS), needed an official journal to establish itself, we began preparations to launch our academic journal. Given that most of our society's members are practicing physicians, starting a new journal was a significant challenge. At that time, the chairperson, Kyungjin Kang and the 10th late president, Woong-Chul Choi, strongly requested my assistance in launching the journal, promising all necessary support, including financial backing. Thus, the first step towards the establishment of JCM was taken.

After more than a year of dedicated effort, the first volume, issue 1, was published on June 30, 2017, featuring four review articles, three original articles, and four case reports. While it may sound straightforward, there were numerous challenges before we could publish these eleven articles. In the early days, I had to encourage members to submit papers somewhat forcefully, leading to a daily routine of requesting submissions via email to two reviewers for evaluation. The joy I felt when the first issue was published is indescribable.

The cover design, featuring the “Silla smile” (The Roof-end Tile with Human Face Motif), was chosen by the chairperson, Kyungjin Kang, to reflect our society's pursuit of beauty and our hope for the JCM to endure for over a millennium. Looking back, it seems like a wonderful choice. Today, we have grown into a journal that operates with an e-submission system and open access, meeting international standards. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Inforang and Medrang for technical support in getting us this far.

Dear members!

JCM is now in its eighth year, publishing biannually. The JCM is indexed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The many reviews, original articles, and case reports featured in our journal provide high-quality professional knowledge to numerous readers in the field of cosmetic surgery both domestically and internationally. As we approach our tenth year, I hope for the journal to grow into one of international renown, and I encourage your active participation and support.

Wishing for the endless development of JCM and KSKCS & KCCS.

Thank you!
