Dear Members and subscribers of the Journal of Cosmetic Medicine,

Greetings,

This year marks the 6th year since the establishment of the Journal of Cosmetic Medicine in 2017. To date, there are 12 publications in account of this 2022 December issue. It is a heartfelt and inspiring moment to see these issues lined up on the bookshelf.

In spite of its well-defined and distinct entity, cosmetic medicine is yet to be classified and recognized as a subspecialty within the field of medicine. As a journal constitutes the research core of the academic platform of societies, the Journal of Cosmetic Medicine has been successful in obtaining official registration with the national research foundation of Korea, the affiliated organization of Korea Ministry of Science and ICT, in 2021, and its association, Korean Society of Korean Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine, is awaiting to be certified as a member society of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology under the Korea Ministry of Science and ICT. By the year 2023, I am confident that the society will become officially registered with the Korean Ministry and become fully integrated into the system.

It is with the devotion, hard work and commitment of the editor-in-chief, editorial boards, reviewers and members who overcame many adversities to sustain the growth of the society that we have successfully produced the first international journal pertaining to Korean cosmetic medicine. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude and respect to the society’s president, board members, members, secretariat staff and Inforang Medrang officials who have partaken in the unremitting effort for the advancement of our society.

Beginning 2022, I am deeply grateful to announce the appointment of Professor Tae-Hoon Lee from University of Ulsan College of Medicine as the new editor-in-chief and Professor Su-Jin Moon from Pusan National University College of Medicine as the new editorial director. We pride ourselves on continually improving the quality of our publishing by reaching out to pioneering experts in the fields of anatomy, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology and cosmetic medicine to join us as editors and reviewers of our journal.

We look forward to engage in robust actions to better serve research and the research community, as well as promoting our society’s aspirations under the same enthusiasm and mindset as when we first founded our organization. We extend our wishes of happiness and health to all of our readers.
